About Us
The UK Experimental Medicine Resource Finder is managed by the NIHR Office for Clinical Research Infrastructure (NOCRI) on behalf of the UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC).
Website History
The website was first launched on 16th January 2008 by the NIHR Clinical Research Network Co-ordinating Centre. The UK Experimental Medicine Resource Finder was developed by the NIHR Clinical Research Network Co-ordinating Centre on behalf of the UK’s research funders and research leaders in response to identification within the research community of a need for a centralised information repository containing up-to-date information on available expertise, resources and techniques across experimental medicine facilities in the UK. The website provided, for the first time, a “one-stop-shop” for industry and academic investigators seeking information about the UK's capability and expertise in experimental medicine and early phase clinical trials.
In early 2010, the management of the UK Experimental Medicine Resource Finder was transferred to the newly formed NIHR Office for Clinical Research Infrastructure (NOCRI). Through NOCRI-led discussions with the life-sciences industry and clinical academics, it was recognised that the capacity of the website should be expanded. The enhanced capacity of the redeveloped website for example would allow users of the resource finder to search for centres that have access to the latest, cutting edge technologies, such as imaging, genomic, proteomic and bioinformatics facilities, or to search for centres that have access to relevant tissue samples through the inclusion of details about biobanks.
Website Funding
Funding for the redevelopment was provided by a number of the UKCRC partners:
