An MRC Strategic Review Group recently reviewed MRC's contribution to vaccine research. It included UK and international vaccine experts from academia, industry, biotech and government. Its findings were that the MRC's research portfolio is strong in immunology and pathogen biology research underpinning vaccines R&D (reflecting the UK's strengths) but, with a few notable exceptions, there is little MRC funded translation of this novel science either to products or policies. This call aims to address this gap by stimulating and funding vaccine related research with convincing, defined translational outcomes. Full details are available here.
