Brighton CRF is a multi-use research unit specialising in Ageing and Experimental Cancer Medicine Research.
The Ageing programme spans, Cancer, Cardio Vascular Disease, Infectious Disease (including HIV), Immunology & Inflammation, Neurology & Dementia, Renal and Respiratory. The CRF also hosts the Barts and Brighton ECMC and provides the platform for conducting early phase cancer trials.
The facility has a multi use 6 bed in patient ward which doubles up as an infusion suite used for the administration and delivery of novel intravenous infusion treatment and chemotherapy.
There are 6 out patient clinic rooms and fully equipped laboratories to support sample processing, near side patient testing and deep freeze storage. Bespoke lab equipment on site includes mass spectrometry, Luminex, Elispot Research, Magnetic Cell sorter, Cat 2 hood, Micro Array Scanner, plate reader, cell freezer and preparation room.
The unit has an on site pharmacy linked to aseptic preparation facilities.
The unit houses Full body and peripheral DEXA scanners, Intensive Studies Room, Pulse Wave Analysis, Pulse Wave Velocity and vascular monitoring, Image Analysis, 10 & 12 Lead ECG, ultrasound and echocardiography, DCO and respiratory monitoring.
The Facility is aligned to a sister facility the Clinical Imaging & Sciences Centre which is equipped with fMRI and PET CT.
